Techlaw Insights in Japanese and English from James Miller

Broadband is dead! Long live broadband!

After what has been an unexpected and unpleasant few weeks with our connectivity provider, I’ve taken our DC servers offline and moved our web content to a hosting source. While broadband may be available in one form or another for “most Americans,” my experience living in a major US city suburb using several broadband several providers has been abysmal. My most recent experience informed me that for some DSL technologies “always on” means “always on when you take the phone off the hook” and “high-speed” means “between 40 and 90 kbit.”

Thank goodness I’m moving to Japan soon and will have fibre to my home!!
